Mid-Quarterly HR Update – July 2023

Here we are, just about mid-quarter, and we already have some updates for you from our last Quarterly HR Update. Please see below and let us know if you have any questions.

EEO-1 Reporting: Our last update reported the EEOC’s intention to “tentatively” launch the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection in mid-July. The EECO now reports they are pushing the collection, again “tentatively” to “fall of 2023”. As explained on their site, “The EEOC is currently completing a mandatory, three-year renewal of the EEO-1 Component 1 data collection by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA). Accordingly, the EEOC has updated the tentative opening of the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection to the Fall of 2023.”  We will update you on our next Quarterly Update, or before if needed!

EEOC Labor Law Poster: The new “Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination Is Illegal” poster is now available! We recommend posting this version as soon as possible.

Heat-Related Precautions: The summer is heating up in most areas, including the Pacific Northwest. We are also predicted to be impacted by poor air quality due to wildfire smoke. As such, it’s more important than ever to ensure appropriate precautions are taken for all employees who work outside and are exposed to outside air and heat. To help we are providing a couple resources from Washington and Oregon. While these are specific to those states, they both offer very good guidance and reminders. We encourage you to review these if you have employees who work outside and reach out if you have questions regarding specific requirements in your area.
